Welcome to Two Hawks Quarterly’s Winter 2008 issue. For this, our third outing, we decided to shake things up a bit with a theme dedicated to the environment. The writers and artists found in this issue have taken a broad view of the theme, interpreting it in the myriad ways only people with great creative minds can, through poetry, memoir, fiction and film.

The chosen poems embody nature. The poets’ voices give us a camera’s eye view of place or take us into a new dimension in which humanity converges with nature.

Our memoir selections feature a variety of talented writers that offer their own unique spin on what it is to be human and exist in a variety of different environments.

In fiction we find truth, sometimes beautiful and often disturbing. Our selections feature two talented writers who draw us into their imagined worlds.

Finally, we have two short films. One, by Vanessa M. Nichols, is a playful twist on the amateur porn of the 1970’s featuring one of America’s favorite dolls. The second film, by Darby Bailey, is, an interesting study on gender programming.

We hope you enjoy digging into this issue of Two Hawks Quarterly. We thank you for making the journal a success. Spread the word and send us your work!
